Best beaches & Excursions in Zanzibar

In our trip that lasted 6 days, we got to do most of the tourist attractions in Zanzibar. That means that we visited all the most amazing beaches and did the best tours that were possible to do in a matter of 6 days.

The best beaches we visited:

1. NUNGWI

This was the first beach we visited. We arrived around 12 am and walked and discovered what the beach had to offer.

The thing about Zanzibar is that the tide changes very much. (It also changes depending on the zone) When we arrived the tide was very low and the boats were stranded on the sand. That let us walk to infinity to see the different types of boats. The experience was pretty amazing!

Also, it's close to 2 natural aquariums:

- Barack Aquarium (You can feed the turtles and swim with them) = 10$/pax (This places also belongs to the hotel next door. Very beautiful!)

- Nungwi Mnarani Aquarium (You can only feed them) =5$/pax

Moreover, the sunsets are amazing in this place and locals tend to come out and play soccer and it's really a wonderful scene to watch. There are also some restaurants and hotels nearby if you want to have dinner someplace around.

2. KENDWA

This beach may look very bad at the beginning (Depending on the zone you enter from) but it is really an amazing place. I had never seen a water that blue! The water wasn't as clear as Fiji or Maldives but... from the outside it really looked like Maldives 2.0.

There are some very nice hotels close by! If the purpose of your stay in Zanzibar is to relax in a beautiful nice resort this might be a good place to stay in! (Take in mind this is a very touristy place and that it's full of Italians!)

3. MNEMBA & MATEMWE

Have you ever wondered how do Nemo and dory pass their days after their long success in the movie "Nemo"? Well, you can see them now in action!

The tour guide will take you to the right side of the island but... the island is sooo much bigger and nicer on the left!

The island is a hotel itself but... it's Bill Gates' Island and it's very expensive! You will not be able to touch the beach but the best part of the island is the blue water, Nemo, dory and other amazing types of fish!

Also, the beach in front of Mnemba (Were you will start and finish the boat tour from), Matemwe, is pretty amazing! There is also a nice hotel on the beach and you can buy something to drink or an appetizer... (Sunshine Marine Lodge)

4. PAJE

This is a WOW when you visit it. We entered in a hotel called (Cristal Resort - Paje Zanzibar). This Hotel lets you visit and use their sunbeds for free. Also, the water in the beach is amazing and you can walk for hours until you reach the coral reef that it's very far far away! It is also the perfect spot to try Kite Surfing!

5. SAFARI BLUE

This is a tour where you can see and swim in a lot of different beaches. It was really nice but if you don't have time to do it... you are not going to miss the best! On the other hand... I

would do it the first day so that you are amazed all the time!

6. PRISON ISLAND

There are a lot of tortoises and the water is so blue! It's a nice thing to do and also, you can combine it with Stone Town! It will only take a morning to visit the island! The oldest was 190 years old!
